Sustainable energy, also known as renewable energy, refers to energy sources that are natural and can be used without running out. These sources include solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass energy.
Sustainable Energy
Solar Energy
Solar panels capture energy from the sun and turn it into electricity. This energy can be used to power homes, businesses, and even entire cities.
Wind Energy
Wind turbines use the power of the wind to generate electricity. Wind energy is renewable source of power that does not use any nasties like greenhouse gases.
Hydro Energy
Hydro energy is a way to make electricity using the power of moving water. We use a special machine called a turbine that spins when the water moves through it.
Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is a way to make electricity using the heat that comes from deep inside the Earth. We drill a hole really deep into the ground, sometimes even deeper than the height of a really tall building!
Then, we pump water down into the hole, and the water gets heated up by the Earth's heat and it turns into steam. We use the steam to turn a turbine, which is a special machine that generates electricity.
Biomass Energy
Biomass energy is a way to make electricity using plants and animals, like wood, leaves, and even garbage! Instead of throwing these things away, we can use them to create energy.
Biomass energy is like recycling - we're using things that we might normally throw away to make something useful!
